Vaillant aroTHERM plus 7kW Heat Pump Installation in Hove

A 7kW Vaillant heat pump and mains pressure hot water for a home in Hove

Fresh installation in Hove! We replaced an old boiler with a Vaillant aroTHERM plus 7kW air source heat pump and a 210L Vaillant unvented cylinder, backed by a 380% efficiency guarantee through our partners Heat Geek.

While we were at it, the old vented cylinder made way for mains pressure hot water, so the noisy shower pump could go. Outside, all the pipework now runs in neat black trunking.

The Challenge

The house was running on an old boiler with a vented hot water cylinder. A vented cylinder is fed from a cold water tank, usually up in the loft, so the water pressure depends on gravity. That’s why the shower relied on a pump to get a decent flow, and this one was noisy.

Switching to a heat pump was the perfect time to sort the hot water out too.

Vented or unvented?

A vented cylinder takes its water from a tank in the loft and relies on gravity for pressure. An unvented cylinder is fed straight from the mains, so you get mains pressure at every tap and shower without needing a pump.

Our Solution

Outside: a Vaillant aroTHERM plus 7kW

We fitted a Vaillant aroTHERM plus 7kW air source heat pump in place of the old boiler. It takes heat from the outside air and uses it to warm the home and the hot water.

The unit sits up off the ground on its own feet and blocks, tucked neatly against the side of the house.

Inside: a 210L Vaillant unvented cylinder

Indoors, the old vented cylinder was swapped for a 210L Vaillant unvented cylinder. It’s fed from the mains, which means better hot water right through the home and no more shower pump.

The Vaillant controls sit in the same cupboard, so everything is in one place.
