How the Heat Geek Installation Book Is Helping Us Raise the Bar in West Sussex
At Option Energy Solutions, we’re constantly looking for ways to improve the way we deliver low-carbon heating systems to homeowners across Sussex. And recently, we got our hands on a copy of the Heat Geek Installation Book by James and Lewis, and it’s fair to say it’s already made an impact.
This isn’t just another technical manual.
Having read it cover to cover, we can honestly say this book does a brilliant job of simplifying the essentials of installing a heat pump, especially for new engineers. In fact, we’d go as far as saying 90% of what you need to know to install a domestic heat pump well is inside these pages.
Unlike some of the more complex industry textbooks, this one manages to be clear, relatable, and genuinely useful. It focuses on what really matters: the fundamentals, heat loss, flow temperatures, radiator sizing, and how to plan a system properly.
Why It Matters to Us
At Option Energy, we’ve always believed that the future of heating relies on great system design, not just great products. We’re proud to be Heat Geek Approved Installers, which means we don’t just fit heat pumps, we design them the right way from day one.
The Heat Geek platform has given our team access to tools, training, and real-world examples that help us push the standard of heat pump installations forward. This book is a natural extension of that, a clear, practical guide that supports not just new engineers, but also established installers looking to raise their game.
We’ve already started using it internally with team members as a reference guide. It’s also a useful way for clients to better understand the step-by-step process of a well-designed installation, something we always try to make transparent.
What Could Be Next?
Of course, we’d love to see more Heat Geek content like this. There’s plenty of scope to dive deeper into project management, pricing, and more advanced commissioning topics in future editions. But for now, huge kudos to James and Lewis for getting this into the hands of the industry.
In short, this book is helping us train better engineers, deliver smarter systems, and continue setting high standards for heat pumps across Steyning, Brighton, Worthing and the wider Sussex region.
